Anyone made ';Black Pearl Cake';? Any suggestions for a frosting that will hold up better than whipped-cream?

I need to make the cake, then drive it across the city to my boyfriend's birthday party.Anyone made ';Black Pearl Cake';? Any suggestions for a frosting that will hold up better than whipped-cream?
Yeah. Actually I've heard of people using cream cheese? Worth a try maybe....Anyone made ';Black Pearl Cake';? Any suggestions for a frosting that will hold up better than whipped-cream?
Black Pearl Cake? Maybe it's Black Forest Cake? Either way, it doesn't matter, I think that you could make a meringue-type icing and that would hold shape better for a little while longer, but If you are making the Black forest cake you don't want to stray too far from the traditional recipe of the cake. whipped cream is actually perfect for that cake. you can try to stick it in the freezer for about two hours before you take it, so it's not frozen, but it is nice and cold so you don't have to worry about it too much! If you make the whipped cream right, there shouldn't be any problem with it at all. just run your a/c in the car, keep it covered, and keep it cool until you leave with it and you should be fine. good luck!
You could always increase the velosity of the cream by beating it with caster sugar, this will hold up better than plain cream

cheers
