i have darker areas and lighter areas all on my face and it looks weird.

Yes. You could use solid cocoa butter--it really helps--but if that doesn't do it for you, try some over the counter skin bleaching creams. I use Palmer's Skin Success. I got it from CVS and I only paid about $6. It seems to be working for me.
