What color furniture works best with a 2-toned room: chocolate brown wainscoting & cream walls?

The new room I am moving into has gorgeous Edwardian woodwork throughout, giant wood %26amp; glass cabinets, white plaster walls (I'd like to paint them light powder blue) and very dark, chocolate brown beams on the ceiling wainscoting and chair rails for the bottom half of the room. The carpet is light tan and will be covered up with rugs. But should I go with matching choc. brown furniture? The bed frame in the room is black iron, matte finish. I'd like to keep as much of the original details in the room as the focal point but find a more modern color scheme for the bedding and accessories. I'm stuck on what color to go with for the furniture. The room is dark so a little bright accent here %26amp; there would help. Any ideas? What color furniture works best with a 2-toned room: chocolate brown wainscoting %26amp; cream walls?
The matching chocolate brown furniture would look good. What about a cream colour, and you can add a few throwpillows (the powder blue with a dark brown stripe)What color furniture works best with a 2-toned room: chocolate brown wainscoting %26amp; cream walls?
I would want to have a wooden-framed furniture as nearly a match to the beams as possible. I would also want the material to be a lite color. Try to get at least one of the colors in the material to match the color (powder blue) that you are painting the walls. It would be great to find the furniture first then have the paint store match the color that you want in that furniture. This can be done almost exactly today! Have fun with this project and a wonderful Christmas too.

If you leave them the same color as they are now you would be able to integrate colors such as sage green, hunter green, burgundy, deep blue (dark) don't put sage together with the others listed. You can however mix the hunter green, royal blue and burgundy for a regal influence to your very elegant sounding room...best wishes
I love rubbed black furniture. I am searching for an entertainment center in rubbed black and can't wait to get one. This might be too dark for you though. Good luck.
For a classic look try dark red oak and sofas. Or, a beige or dark cream colour, perhaps even maple.
off-white to match and red to give it contrast
I think you might want to think... let's say... maybe a color that would match the walls... If not, you could possibly try green, that might look good in that room...
If you are painting the walls blue, go with choc-brown furniture with blue and off-white accents.
